About Sergio Mariscal

I was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, I started drawing in high School, I hated Math, and as soon as my Math Teacher walked in the classroom, I grabbed my notebook and started doodling and drawing  absentmindedly, oblivious of my surroundings, needless to say I flunked Math in my 3 years of High School.

 

After graduating from High School,  -  My teacher passed me at the end of school, he must've felt bad for me and gave me a passing grade - Once in my way to College, I wanted to enroll in art school  at the prestigious " Escuela de artes Plasticas "  but I couldn't afford the tuition fees, therefore my dream of taking painting classes, couldn't be fulfilled.

 

Due to unforseen circumstances, I left Mexico and came to the USA when I was 19 years old.

Once in The USA, I had to earn money for rent and expenses,  got me a job and forgot about drawing for about 3 years.

​

I'm pretty much Self-Taught as far as art is concerned, however I took several classes of drawing  at the Glendale and Mission colleges and took an unistructed painting class at the Sta. Monica UCLA extension. 

​

I really started painting in 2001, I decided to buy materials and started  painting on my own .
